MONTREAL, QC -- Both Canada's and Finland's goaltenders merited player-of-the-game honours, in Canada's 2-1 victory over Finland in Montreal tonight.

Kathy McCormack of Blackville, NB opened the scoring for Canada early in the first period, assisted by France St-Louis of Laval, QC and Jennifer Botterill of Ottawa, ON, and despite 26 shots in the first two frames, Canada only managed the one goal.

Midway through the third period, Therese Brisson of Montreal, QC, assisted by Tammy Lee Shewchuk of LaSalle, QC and Caroline Ouellette of Montreal, staked Canada to two goal lead. Finland managed a goal with 33 seconds left after pulling their goalie.

"Our team played with good discipline and desire," said Karen Hughes, Assistant Coach of Canada's National Women's Team. "It's difficult to play three games in three nights, but maintained our focus and executed our game plan effectively."

"We didn't score a lot, but we accomplished what we wanted to", recounted Vicky Sunohara, "Kim (St-Pierre) put in a solid goaltending performance."

Kim St-Pierre allowed only one goal on 26 shots, with Puputti allowing only 2 goals on 52 shots.

Canada will play Finland in Drummondville, QC on Sunday, at 2:00 pm in the final game of this four game tour of Ontario and Quebec.
