OSHAWA, ONñ Hayley Wickenheiser of Calgary, AB scored four goals Wednesday night for Canada's National Women's team as Canada tied the Finnish National Women's team 6-6 in front of a standing room only crowd in Oshawa, ON, in the first game of four that Finland will play Canada on this Ontario/Quebec tour.

Wickenheiser opened the scoring at 4:04 of the first period with an assist from Delaney Collins of Pilot Mound, MB, but Finland tied the game with a power play goal at 8:50. Vicky Sunohara of Scarborough, ON kept Canada in the lead by rounding out the first period scoring.

Wickenheiser scored two goals in 1:03 to give Canada a 4-1 lead in the second period, but Finland came back to score three unanswered goals. Natalie Rivard of Cumberland, ON scored for Canada, and Finland had two to take the lead. Wickenheiser then tied the game with a power play goal, her fourth goal of the game, at 18:03 of the third period, with Canadian goaltender Lesley Reddon of North York, ON getting the lone assist.

"It is great to be back playing at the International level again, especially with the excitement and emotion of the fans cheering on our team", said Wickenheiser who trains and plays with the Oval X-treme in Calgary during the season. "We definitely had a lot of scoring chances as a team tonight, but we need to tighten up defensively in order to be successful."

ìIn the overall process, it was important for us to come back and tie the game,î said Ken Dufton, Assistant Coach for Team Canada. ìOur team showed signs of being able to handle various situations that came at us, which is good for team preparation.î

Canada will play Finland tomorrow night in Renfrew, ON, as the four game Ontario/Quebec tour continues.
