1972 Canada - Russia Series 25th Anniversary

CALGARY, AB. -- Canadian Hockey and the 1972 Team Canada players have awarded exclusive broadcast rights to the upcomimg 25th Anniversary weekend celebration of the classic 1972 Canada - Russia Summit Series to tv eye Entertainment. The anniversary weekend will take place in the Toronto area September 25 .

As an official rights holder, tv eye will exclusively produce a special two-hour prime-time television documentary entitled "SEPTEMBER 1972", airing Sunday, September 28 at 9:00 p.m. (EST) on the CTV National Television Network.

Executed through their agency Architectus, tv eye will manage a series of special events celebrating the achievement of the original 1972 players. The events will include a Team Canada 1972 Legends Golf Invitational and VIP dinner on Friday, September 26, and a reunion hockey game featuring the Team Canada 1972 players at Maple Leaf Gardens on the afternoon of Sunday September 28.

In addition to the above anniversary weekend activities, Canadian Hockey and the Team Canada 1972 members have licensed tv eye Entertainment with the rights to distribute a special Collectors Edition video package which will include the "SEPTEMBER 1972" television documentary along with Game 8 of the series, digitally re-mastered from the original 1972 footage.

"The members of Team Canada 1972 and Canadian Hockey endorse tv eye Entertainment as the official management group for all the 25th Anniversary weekend celebrations," said Paul Henderson, co-chairman of the 1972 players committee. "The players are really excited about coming together again to re-live and celebrate a very important time in our lives and in Canadian history."

tv eye Entertainment, a Toronto-based television production company, has produced award winning television specials for CBC and TSN, including "Mario: The Magnificent One" and "Forever Rivals".
