CALGARY, ALTA -- The third of three evaluation camps for Canada's National Women's Hockey Team is set to go at Montréal's Collège Brébeuf from May 23-25, Canadian Hockey announced Thursday.

The camp is the last in a series of tryouts for the 1998 Women's Olympic Hockey Team, which will assemble at Calgary's Father David Bauer Arena in September to begin five months of training to prepare for the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan.

Forty-three players have been invited to the camp, including National Team and 1997 Women's World Championship team players Therese Brisson, Nancy Drolet and Luce Letendre.

Olympic team head coach, Shannon Miller, who led Canada to its fourth straight gold medal at the Women's World Hockey Championship in Kitchener, ON in April, will coordinate the camp, along with Olympic Team assistant coach Daniele Sauvageau and Julie Healy, the head coach of the women's varsity team at Concordia University.

Two guest coaches -- Karin Blanchet and Annie Bergeron -- also will be assisting Miller at the camp. Blanchet was an assistant coach with Team Quebec at the National Midget Women's Championship in Summerside, PEI, while Bergeron was an assistant under Sauvageau with Team Quebec at the Esso Women's National Championship in Richmond, BC.

Between 25-30 players will be invited to train full-time with the National Women's Team in September but only 20 will be selected for the Olympic Team roster. Female hockey is a medal sport for the first time in the history of the Winter Games next February at Nagano.
