Brad Richards Questions and Answers

OLY.007

Thanks for all your questions for Brad. Here are his answers for four questions that we selected.

Next up: Simon Gagné, the two-time Olympian and alternate captain of Team Canada.

Holly Biggles, Canada: Do you have any pregame rituals before NHL games that you brought with you to do before games at the Olympics?

BRAD: Just the way I put everything on my right side of my body first. My same stretching routine and what time I put me gear on before warmup. But after that, it’s hard to have the same routine, because different guys have the same routine so you’ve got to be helping each other out. You don’t want to get in each other’s way. It’s tough but we all adapt.

Margaret Chasmer, Toronto, ON: If you could play with any of the hockey greats of the past, who would it be and why?

BRAD: Well, I’ve played with Mario (Lemieux) at the World Cup. So that leaves Gretzky and those two are my favourites. I’ve played with Joe (Sakic) another of my favourites, so it just leaves Gretzky, I guess.

Terrance Sylvestre, Canada: What part of this experience will you take out and help you in the NHL?

BRAD: This is just another learning experience of dealing with adversity. It’s such a small time and we’re under a microscope. Sometimes, in Tampa, we’re not. I think this is another learning experience on the big pressure and the big times, and how you handle it and how you deal with it.

Nadya Rustandjaya, Calgary, AB: What’s the key to building a solid team chemistry in a short tournament like the Olympics?

BRAD: It’s everything. The team that comes together the quickest wins every time. Teams that can deal with the pressure and deal with all that together seem to win.
