BOURKE SCORES OVERTIME WINNER AS ALBERTA TAKES 7TH PLACE
Karla Bourke slid home the overtime winner at the 2:16 mark of the extra frame, giving Alberta a 3-2 win
over Ontario Blue in the seventh-place game at the 2007 National Women’s Under-18 Championship on Saturday
Bourke took a pass from Stephanie Gavronsky, cut to the middle and slipped a wrist shot through the pads
of Ontario Blue goaltender Victoria Vigilanti, who turned away 40 shots in a losing cause. Gavronsky and
Alberta Player of the Game Reagan Fischer also scored for Alberta (2-2), while Meg Omand added two assists in
The Albertans fought back from a 2-0 first period deficit, with Gavronsky scoring her team’s first goal
just 48 seconds after Jenna McParland had put Ontario Blue up by a pair. Fischer pulled the Westerners even
four minutes into the second period before Vigilanti and Alberta netminder Kanesa Shwetz shut the door for
the final 36 minutes of regulation time.
Jamie Lee Rattray – named her team’s Player of the Game – joined McParland on the scoresheet for Ontario
Blue (0-4), and also joined her atop the team’s scoring list, with four points each in four games.
