Germany 5 Team Western 7
This game was to determine the 9th and 10th place teams. Team Western had a 3 goal first period to give them an early 3-1 lead. With only one goal in the second period, scored by Team Western, they carried a comfortable 4-1 lead into the final frame. However, Germany did not go down without a fight and were able to notch 4 third period goals to make it close. Team Western added 3 third period goals including an empty netter to wrap things up 7-5. Team Western finishes in 9th spot with a 1-4 record while Germany goes without a win at 0-5 and finishes in the 10th spot. Player of the game for Team Western was Chris Durand, while Christoph Gawlik took home the honours for Germany.
Slovakia 0 Finland 5
In a battle for 7th and 8th spot between two European teams, this one was all Finland. With 3 goals in first and 2 more in the third, Finland had a decisive 5-0 win. Finland had 5 different scores with Tuomas Huntanen adding a goal and an assist. With the win Finland finishes in 7th spot with a 2-3 record. Slovakia finishes in 8th spot with a 1-3-1 record. The player of the game for Finland was Jarkko Hattunen and Richard Lelkes was named for Team Slovakia.
Atlantic 2 Russia 5
This game decided 5th and 6th spots. Russia took a 2-1 lead from the first, but Team Atlantic tied things up at two in the second period. Russia dominated the third period scoring 3 unanswered goals, to win 5-2. Russia finished with a record of 3-1-1 to take 5th spot while Team Atlantic finished in 6th spot with a 2-3 record. Player of the game for Team Russia was Denis Istomin, while Jordan Clendenning received the honour for Team Atlantic.
Quebec 1 Ontario 2
In one of the two Semi-Finals, Team Ontario squeeked out a 2-1 lead to advance to the gold medal game. Ryan Wilson had two power-play goals to lead Team Ontario. Team Quebec will face Team USA in the bronze medal final. Team Ontario finishes with a 4-0-1 record while Team Quebec finishes with a 2-2-1 record. The player of the game for Team Ontario was Ryan Wilson, while Quebec goalie Jean-Philippe Levasseur had 30 saves and won the award for Team Quebec.
Team USA 4 Team Pacific 7
Team Pacific came out of the gate flying with 3 first period goals. USA scored late in the first, but trailed 3-1 at the end of one. The second period decided the outcome of the game with Team Pacific scoring 4 goals, two of which were on the power-play. Team USA did score two in the second, but were down 7-3 heading into the third. The third period only saw one goal scored by the USA, but that was not enough as Team Pacific won 7-4 to advance to the gold medal game. Team Pacific finishes with a 3-0-2 while Team USA finished with a 3-2 record. Player of the game for Team Pacific was Gilbert Brule who had 1 goal and 3 assists, this was the third time he was awarded the honour. For Team USA, Nathan Gerbe had 2 goals and 1 assist and received the honour.
The bronze medal game is set for 2pm with Team Quebec facing Team USA.
