2004 National U18 Club Championship

HOST 0 - WEST 0

April 22, 2004
Kenora, ON

In one of the most highly anticipated games of the tournament, over 1900 fans were jammed in to the Kenora Rec. Centre. These two teams met on several occasions during the regular season, with both teams having success versus one another. With both teams tied in the standings with a 1-2 record, the points from this game would be crucial in the overall standings. After both teams went scoreless in the first and the second, the crowd was getting anxious as they knew any goal in this game could be the winner. After a back and forth third period, neither team could solve the two outstanding netminders. The game went into a ten minute sudden death overtime, with both teams getting some fantastic scoring opportunities. With only 12 seconds remaining, Kenora’s speedy forward Jamie Davis broke away to go in alone on Brandon goalie Tyler Plante. The Brandon goalie came up with the biggest save of the game, and the teams settled for a tie. The crowd gave a thunderous standing ovation as the buzzer sounded for what was the most exciting game in the tournament thus far. Both goalies won their respective Player-of-the-Game awards, as Kenora’s Tyler Gordon made 34 saves to Brandon’s Tyler Plante who made 29 saves. Both teams are tied for third in the standings with records of 1-2-1.
