Beginning with the inaugural IIHF World Women's Championship in Ottawa, Ont., in 1990, Canada has never finished worse than silver, winning the first eight gold medals (1990, 1992, 1994, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2004) and claiming its ninth and 10th world titles in 2007 and 2012.
