The second step in Hockey Canada’s women’s high performance program is Canada's National Women’s Development Team. The development program, formerly known as Canada's National Women's Under-22 Team, helps identify, evaluate and develop female hockey players for Canada’s National Women’s Team.

Bourbonnais and Watts scored and Neatby made 26 saves, but Canada fell to the U.S. in overtime in the gold medal game.

Bell scored twice, Houston and Friesen once each, as Canada advanced to the gold medal game at the 2016 U18 women’s worlds.
2016 U18WWC: USA 4 – CAN 1 (Preliminary)
Edgar scored and Neatby made 28 saves but Canada allowed three power play goals and fell to the United States.
2016 U18WWC: CAN 11 – CZE 0 (Preliminary)
Agnew, Potomak and O’Neill had two goals and an assist each – and 13 players in total had points – in Canada’s shutout win.
