2014-15 National Men's Under-18 Team
Seventeen players – including 10 who won the U18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup last summer – have been named to Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team for the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship in Zug and Lucerne, Switzerland.
Tim Hunter, a long-time NHL assistant who just completed his first season as head coach of the WHL’s Moose Jaw Warriors, will lead Team Canada at the IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship, joined by assistants Ian Herbers and Louis Robitaille
Three players who won bronze at last spring’s U18 world championship and five who helped Pacific to silver at the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge are among the 22 who have been named to Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team.
Jody Hull has replaced Derek Laxdal as head coach of Canada's National Men's Summer Under-18 Team, after Laxdal was hired as head coach of the AHL's Texas Stars. In addition, Martin Raymond has been added to the staff as an assistant coach.
Jérémy Roy had a hat trick, Mitchell Stephens added a pair of goals, and Canada used a six-goal second period to earn a win over Latvia in its opener at the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship.
Anthony Beauvillier scored in the shootout and Mathew Barzal had two goals and two assists – all in the first period – to help Canada to an extra-time win over Germany in its final pre-worlds warm-up.
Jordan Kyrou had a goal and an assist, Zach Sawchenko made 15 saves for the shutout, and three power play goals helped Canada to a win over Slovakia in its first of two pre-world championship games.
Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team scored four times in the first period to take command early en route to a victory over the Czechs in Breclav and its seventh consecutive gold medal at the U18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup.
Dylan Strome scored a hat trick, 16 players recorded at least one point, and Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team advanced to the gold medal game at the U18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup with a semifinal rout of the U.S.
Five different players scored goals and Jansen Harkins added two assists as Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team finished a perfect preliminary round at the 2014 U18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup with a win over Slovakia.
Mitchell Stephens scored a pair of goals in the third period as Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team pulled away in the final 20 minutes to earn a victory over Sweden, remaining unbeaten at the U18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup.
Mathew Barzal had a goal and an assist, and 11 different players recorded at least one point to lead Canada to a victory over Switzerland in the opening game for both at the 2014 U18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup in Piestany.
Lawson Crouse scored twice and Jérémy Roy got the winner on a third-period power play as Canada’s National Men’s Summer U18 Team earned a wild win over the Czechs in its lone game ahead of the U18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup.
