Bowey Blogs: Madison Bowey shares his experiences from the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship in Russia

Wednesday, April 24:

We finished the round robin with a perfect record at 4-0 after getting two huge wins against Switzerland and Sweden. Claiming first in our pool was huge and set us up well heading into the medal round. The boys have come a long way since our close game against Germany and we're playing with a lot more confidence. Beating a great team like Sweden 6-0 just goes to show how we are really starting to come together on the ice. We had another great practice morning and are starting to get focused for our big quarter-final game against the Czechs. We know heading into the game tomorrow that they'll come out hard so we just have to stick to our game plan.

With the medal round starting tomorrow I can already start to see that the boys are ready to play, which is a great sign. Tonight we have a team dinner planned, which will be nice to get a great meal into us before tomorrow's game, then we have all night after that to rest up. Tomorrow is a big day for us but we can be too tense going into it so that's why tonight it'll be nice to just relax, have some down time and maybe play some NHL13.

I'm very excited to see how the boys come out tomorrow because I know it'll be strong and a very good game. These next three games are huge so we're just going to take it one day at a time, focus on the process and hopefully with our hard work ethic we'll be able to bring a gold back to Canada.
