The 2013 TELUS Cup celebrates 40 years of Canada’s National Midget Championship. Since the puck dropped at the 1974 Wrigley Cup, the tournament has featured to 53 first-round NHL draft picks, including three taken with the No. 1 selection (Gord Kluzak, Wendel Clark and Sidney Crosby) and nine players who have been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame (Glenn Anderson, Ron Francis, Mike Gartner, Al MacInnis, Larry Murphy, Patrick Roy, Joe Sakic, Denis Savard and Steve Yzerman).
Can Red Deer repeat as national champions? Can Saskatoon improve on last year’s bronze medal? Can Laval-Montréal end Quebec’s 11-year gold medal drought? Can Sault Ste. Marie become the first host team to win gold since 1991? Can Valley cap its worst-to-first run with a national title? Can Ottawa take the TELUS Cup to the nation’s capital for the first time?
Find out beginning April 22.
