CALGARY, Alta. – Imperial in association with its Esso fuel brand is extending its partnership with Hockey Canada by becoming the title sponsor of Hockey Canada’s official team management program, TeamHub – building on 30+ years of support the company has shown for grassroots hockey in Canada.

First introduced in 2013, TeamHub fueled by the Esso brand is a free, easy-to-use online tool that helps coaches, managers, players and parents stay organized and connected to their teams 24/7. In September, Hockey Canada announced that TeamHub fueled by the Esso Brand is now available on-the-go with the new TeamHub mobile app, available for Android and Apple® devices.

Leveraging its PRICE PRIVILEGES™ fuel savings card program, Imperial will distribute Hockey Canada-specific PRICE PRIVILEGES cards through its Esso Medals and Certificates of Achievement program. The cards will be made available to teams that sign up for the Esso Medals program (http://www.essomedals.com/e_index.cfm). Every time a customer swipes their Hockey Canada PRICE PRIVILEGES card, two cents for every litre will be donated to the Hockey Canada Foundation to help support the game at the grassroots level. The customers will also save three cents per litre themselves.

“Hockey Canada has developed tremendous partnerships with our sponsors, and this is a great example of how the Esso brand is extending its properties to further support our shared interests in helping to get more kids leading active, healthy lifestyles through hockey,” said Scott Smith, chief operating officer, Hockey Canada. “Part of Hockey Canada’s mission is to ensure we provide members of the minor hockey community with the tools they need to succeed and have fun; we deliver that through tools like TeamHub, but we also deliver it through the work of the Hockey Canada Foundation - which has developed programs focused on ensuring the sport is accessible to as many Canadians as possible. The Esso brand’s support for TeamHub and the Foundation, in addition to its Hockey Canada PRICE PRIVILEGES cards which give back directly to hockey families, exemplify how we work directly with our partners to deliver on our shared objectives of fostering the love of the game all across the country.”

Imperial and Hockey Canada will run promotional contests for teams registered and active on the TeamHub fueled by the Esso brand online portal throughout the season.

“Hockey is part of our Canadian heritage, and it gives us a sense of national pride,” said Andrew Mackay, retail manager for Imperial. “Because we have a presence in cities, towns and villages across the country, Imperial's sponsorship activities are focused on hockey events and programs that support kids and the community. Our many links with the national game are directed toward encouraging young players to take the challenge and shoot for their goals and dreams. Imperial’s commitment to the sport begins at the grass roots level with our Medals of Achievement program, and support for amateur hockey. We’re proud to extend that support to now include Hockey Canada’s TeamHub.”

The TeamHub fueled by the Esso brand mobile app is available to download now in the iTunes® and Google Play stores.
