TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – MONCTON FLYERS
The Moncton Flyers ran away with the regular season championship in the N.B./P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League, finishing a ridiculous 22 points ahead of second-place Cornwall. The Flyers opened the season on a 17-game winning streak – not putting a mark in the loss column until Dec. 10 – and never looked back, finishing the season on an eight-game run for good measure. Moncton scored 52 more goals than any other team, and allowed a remarkable 60 less – the Flyers had 79 goals against in 35 games, while Fredericton was second best with 139. Not surprisingly, the Moncton goaltending tandem of Nathan Armstrong and Vincent Charest were far and away the best in the league, finishing one-two in wins, shutouts, goals against average and save percentage. Shane Dallaire was the offensive star for the Flyers; his 68 points were good for second in the NBPEIMMHL. Overall, Moncton had seven skaters in the top 20 of league scoring.
