TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – PRINCE ALBERT MINTOS
The 20 national champions survived a race to the finish line, claiming top spot in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League thanks to a tiebreaker over the Saskatoon Contacts, with whom the Mintos finished equal on points and wins for the second consecutive season. Prince Albert’s offence didn’t blow teams away – it scored 198 goals in 44 games, good for second in the SMAAAHL – but their defence was solid, allowing just 100 goals, the league’s best mark. Brett Njaa racked up 65 points to finish third in league scoring, one of just two Mintos in the top 20, while goaltenders Tanner Burgardt and Tyrell King posted the league’s No. 1 and No. 3 goals against averages, respectively.
