TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – OAKVILLE RANGERS
One year ago the Oakville Rangers were OMHA champions and came within two victories of reaching the TELUS Cup, falling to the Ottawa Jr. 67’s in the semifinals at the Central Regional. This season they have set themselves up for a return trip to the regional tournament, losing just two of 36 regular season games to claim first place in the SCTA heading into the OMHA championship qualifying tournament. As good as the offence was – the Rangers scored almost five goals per game – the defence was even better, allowing a miniscule 53 goals in 36 games, 36 less than any other SCTA team. Oakville started the season strong, going 22-0-2 before its first loss – a 4-2 setback at the hands of second-place Burlington on January 16.
