Notre Dame Hounds, Mississauga Reps to Play for 2010 TELUS Cup

LÉVIS, Que. – The Notre Dame Hounds are one win away from a second-straight TELUS Cup championship.

Notre Dame defeated the St. John’s Fog Devils 5-3 on Saturday in the first of two semifinals at the National Midget Championship. Notre Dame will meet Mississauga, which defeated Antoine-Girouard 4-3 in double overtime in the other semifinal.

In the first semifinal, Notre Dame scored two goals in the final period to break a 3-3 tie. Scott Bolland (Osoyoos, B.C.), Shea Howorko (Regina, Sask.), Catlin Foley (Coronach, Sask.), Daniel Dale (Grande Prairie, Alta.) and Morgan Rielly (Vancouver, B.C.) scored for the Hounds. Dale’s goal with just over seven minutes to play proved to be the game-winner. Zach O’Brien (St. John’s, N.L.), with two goals, and Marcus Power (St. John’s, N.L.) scored for St. John’s.

In the second semifinal, Andreas Tsogkas (Toronto, Ont.) scored with 14:01 in the second overtime period to give the Mississauga Reps a 4-3 win over the Gaulois du Collège Antoine-Girouard.

James Ryan (Richmond Hill, Ont.), Eric Locke (Toronto, Ont.) and Jordan Auld (Toronto, Ont.) scored for Mississauga in regulation. Marc-Olivier Brouillard (Mont St-Hilaire, Que.), Kevin Bergeron (Ste. Julie, Que.) and Dominic Beauchemin (Varennes, Que.) got goals for Antoine-Girouard in regulation time.

St. John’s will meet Antoine-Girouard in Sunday’s bronze medal game at 10 a.m. ET. The game will be shown on FastHockey’s webcast at hockeycanada.fasthockey.com.

The TELUS Cup gold medal game will be shown on TSN and RDS. Check local listings for specific broadcast times.
