Edmonton Mayor Proclaims Canada's Heroes Day

Special proclamation made by Mayor of Edmonton Stephen Mandel at City Hall on Thursday, in regards to the upcoming Hockey Canada Foundation Celebrity Classic gala

WHEREAS, a hero can be someone who is brave, who we admire, and who inspires us with their leadership and strength;

AND WHEREAS, Canada’s military personnel make valued contributions to global security and safety through combat operations, search and rescue efforts, disaster assistance and peacekeeping work;

AND WHEREAS, Canada’s Olympians engage in demanding physical training and competition to pursue their goals, and endeavour to build a peaceful and better world through sport;

AND WHEREAS, the Edmonton region is home to many of Canada’s military personnel and Olympians, and they set an example of heroism for all Edmontonians to take pride in;

THEREFORE I, MAYOR STEPHEN MANDEL, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM JUNE 28TH 2010 AS “CANADA’S HEROES DAY” IN EDMONTON, ALBERTA’S CAPITAL CITY.
