Six Players Named to Canada's Men's Worlds Team

CALGARY, AB –Team Canada general manager Steve Yzerman, announced today the addition of six players to Canada’s 2007 World Championship roster.

The 2007 IIHF World Hockey Championship will run from April 27- in Moscow, Russia.

Canada opens the 2007 IIHF World Men’s Hockey Championship on Friday, April 28 against Germany. All of Canada’s games will be broadcast live by TSN/RDS, the official broadcaster of Hockey Canada (check local listings).

The six players added to Canada’s World Championship roster are:

Goaltender – Chris Mason – Red Deer, AB – Nashville Predators (NHL)

Defence – Nick Schultz – Strasbourg, SK – Minnesota Wild (NHL)

Defence – Cory Murphy – Kanata, ON – HIFK Helsinki

Forward – Colby Armstrong – Lloydminster, SK – Pittsburgh Penguins (NHL)

Forward – Matthew Lombardi – Montreal, QC – Calgary Flames (NHL)

Forward – Jonathan Toews – Winnipeg, MB – Univ. of North Dakota (WCHA)

With today’s additions, Canada’s roster now includes a total of 22 players, including 12 forwards, seven defencemen and three goaltenders. Canada has room to name one additional player (up to 23 players during the preliminary round), and then can choose to add two more players to its roster (25 in total) after the preliminary round.
