Canada added to its lead 2:12 in to the second period when Sonne struck for his second of the game as he converted on a 2-on-1 odd man rush with forward Tyler Ennis (Edmonton, AB/Medicine Hat – WHL).

The lead was extended for Canada when Brandon Sutter (Red Deer, AB/Red Deer – WHL) left a drop pass for Ennis, who was able to beat USA goaltender Jeremy Smith at 10:38 of the third period, which turned out to be the final goal in a 3-0 Canada Victory.
