Award Winners Announced for 2004 Esso Women's National Hockey Championship

SHERWOOD PARK, AB - The 2004 Esso Women's National Hockey Championship Awards Committee announced its individual award winners on Saturday evening. The presentations were made during the annual championship awards banquet, which was held at Millennium Place in Sherwood Park, Alberta.

The award winners for the 2004 Esso Women's National Hockey Championship are as follows:

·Most Valuable Player – Pool A: Hayley Wickenheiser (AB) / Pool B: Bobbi Ross (SK)

·Top Goaltender – Pool A: Jennifer Price (British Columbia) / Pool B: Emily Hobbs (NB)

·Top Defensemen – Pool A: Cheryl Pounder (ON) / Pool B: Jocelyne Larocque (MB)

·Top Forward – Pool A: Danielle Goyette (Alberta) / Pool B: Cara Wooster (SK)

·Mickey Walker - Most Sportsmanlike Player – Jennifer Pollett (NFLD)

·Most Sportsmanlike Team – British Columbia

·*Isobel Gathorne Hardy Award – Jane Lagacé (EDM)

*The Isobel Gathorne Hardy Award is attributed to an active player, at any level of the game, whose values, leadership and personal traits are representative of all female athletes. The award recognizes a player that has demonstrated strong community involvement and dedication to the game of hockey.

The 2004 Esso Women's National Hockey Championship gold medal game will take place on Sunday night and will feature Team Alberta vs. Team Ontario at 7:30pm (MST) at the Sherwood Park (AB) Arena. The game will be broadcast live on TSN/RDS. The bronze medal game will feature Team Quebec versus the host team – Edmonton Chimos at

1:30pm (MST) at the Sherwood Park Arena.
