CALGARY, AB - The Canadian Hockey Association opens it’s 84th Annual General Meeting on Friday in Regina, Saskatchewan at the Delta Regina Hotel. The AGM begins on Friday evening, May 16th and continues through to Tuesday, May 20th.

The CHA AGM brings together regional and provincial representatives from across Canada, including the CHA Board of Directors made up of representatives from the CHA's thirteen provincial branches, CHA Life Members, representatives of the CHA's councils (Female, Junior, Minor, Senior, Hockey Development) as well as partner organizations. Over 400 provincial representatives are expected to attend this year’s AGM, to discuss issues relating to hockey in Canada.

Among the subjects and agenda items for the 2003 CHA AGM are:

• A workshop on checking in minor hockey (check www.canadianhockey.ca for further information)

• Election of 2003-2004 CHA Officers and Council Directors

• Establishing the locations of future National Championships

• Recognition of CHA Award Recipients

"The 2002-03 season is rapidly coming to a close. It has been a tremendous year once again with 500,000 young people participating in our great game," said Sheldon Lanchbery, Chair of the board of the CHA. "This year saw Canada host the best ever World Junior Championship, as well as success at the Under 18 and World IIHF Championships. The Annual General Meeting is a time to reflect on the successes of the last year, but to plan for improvements to our game well into the future. "
