Canadian Among Eight New Inductees to IIHF Hall of Fame

CALGARY, AB - Gordon Renwick, former President of the CAHA from 1979-1981, IIHF Vice President from 19, a member of the IIHF Board of Directors in 19, and one who has spent more than 30 years of promoting ice hockey in Canada and internationally, will be one of eight inductees into the International Ice Hockey Federation's Hall of Fame this May in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) inducts every season, former ice hockey greats from across the world,and honours their achievements, contributions and dedication to the game of ice hockey.

This year's induction will be the sixth annual presentation. This year's eight names being inducted to the IIHF Hockey Hall of Fame will bring the number of inductees to 111, representing 20 countries.

The Induction festivities will be organised in Gothenburg, Sweden during the 2002 IIHF World Championship starting April 26 and commencing May 11.

Renwick, a Life Member of the CHA, is the former president (1966-1973) of the Galt, Ontario (now: Cambridge, ON) Hornets, who were two-time Allan Cup Champions and of the Ontario Senior Hockey League( in the late 1960's).

Renwick was has chaired various IIHF World Championships, as well as was chairman of the IIHF's Junior, Old-timers, Statutes and Bylaws, Rules and Marketing Committees, and has had other numerous involvements with hockey in Canada and internationally at various levels.

  • Vladimir Yurzinov, RUSSIA
