National Junior Team Returns Home on Saturday, January 5, 2002

PARDUBICE, CZECH REPUBLIC - Canada's National Junior team, who is playing Russia today (Friday, Jan. 4th) in the gold medal game of the 2002 IIHF World Junior Championship, will be returning home to Canada on Saturday, January 5th.

Canada is taking on Russia in the gold medal game, which will be broadcast live on TSN/RDS, the official broadcaster of the Canadian Hockey Association. Game time is 2:30pm ET / 12:30pm MT / 11:30 am PT. TSN will have a pre-game show beginning at 2:00pm ET/ 12noon MT / 11:00 am PT.

GOLD MEDAL GAME – POST GAME PHONE INTERVIEWS:

Every effort will be made to accommodate telephone interviews for Team Canada players and staff at the conclusion of the gold medal game on Friday, January 4th.

To request an telephone interview post game, please leave a voice message at 403-777-3609 prior to the conclusion of the gold medal game.

However, due to the time change between Canada and the Czech Republic and to best facilitate media requests on-site in the Czech Republic, telephone interviews with players and staff will be limited.

We are therefore including the airport arrival itinerary for the players and staff, and where and when they will be available for interviews upon arriving in Canada.

Air Canada, an associate sponsor of the CHA, will be transporting Canada's National Junior Team back to Canada on Saturday, January 5. Details of the National Junior team flight is as follows:

Media availability for Canada's players and coaches will be available upon Canada's arrival into Terminal 1. Due to security measures within the airport, a formal news conference setting may not be available, only media ‘scrums' with players and staff.

After arriving in Toronto on Jan.5 at 15:40 ET, most of the players and staff (except those staying in Toronto) will be connecting to various flights that will take them back to their Canadian Hockey League city or other city. Therefore, player availability in Toronto may be limited.
