CALGARY - Canadian Hockey announced today that thirty four (34) players reported for the opening of Canada's national hockey team training camp Sunday, in Calgary, Alberta. Under the direction of Canada's national hockey team head coach, Andy Murray, (currently the Assistant Coach of Canada's World Cup team) and general manager and associate coach, Mike Johnston, the training camp will be comprised of three (3) goaltenders, twelve (12) defencemen and eighteen (18) forwards.

"Although it's early, the coaching staff have been impressed with the work ethic and potential of some of the young prospects," comments Mike Johnston.

Canada's national team training camp will run from September 8 - 18 and will take place at the Father David Bauer Arena in Calgary, Alberta.

The camp will include three exhibition games scheduled for September 14 against the Edmonton Oilers Farm Team at 5:00 p.m. at Father David Bauer Arena; September 16 against the Calgary Flames Farm Team at 1:00 p.m. at Father David Bauer; September 17 against the Calgary Flames Farm Team at 2:00 p.m. at the Canadian Airlines Saddledome. The training camp also includes two intersquad games on September 11 and 12 at Father David Bauer Arena (see attached schedule).

Canada's national hockey team is using the Saturday, September 14, 5:00 p.m. game as a fundraising event for Calgary minor hockey. From the $5.00 admission price, Canada's national hockey team will donate $3.00 to the Minor Hockey Association of Calgary.
