COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- USA Hockey today announced the dates, location, and 63-player roster for the 2004 USA Hockey Women's National Festival, to be held August 15-22 in Lake Placid, N.Y. Participants in the Festival are divided into three teams (Teams Red and White, and an Under-22 Team) which will participate in daily practices and compete in a round-robin tournament at the Olympic Center.

The announcement was made by USA Hockey Executive Director Doug Palazzari (Colorado Springs, Colo.), USA Hockey Vice President and International Chairperson Tony Rossi (Chicago, Ill.), and U.S. Women's National Team Head Coach Ben Smith (Gloucester, Mass.).

Digit Murphy (Providence, R.I.) will serve as head coach for Team Red, Jeff Kampersal (Princeton, N.J.) will lead Team White, and Alana Blahoski (St. Paul, Minn.) will serve as head coach for the Under-22 Team.

Digit Murphy is head coach of the women's ice hockey team at Brown University. Jeff Kampersal will enter his eighth year as the head coach of the Princeton University women's ice hockey team in 2004-05. Alana Blahoski has served as an assistant coach for the Women's National Team, most recently at the 2004 IIHF Women's World Championship. She also played for the U.S., and helped to capture the gold medal at the inaugural women's ice hockey Olympic Winter Games in 1998.

The 2004 U.S. Women's Under-22 Select Team will participate in the fifth-ever three-game series versus Canada from August 25-28. The series host alternates each instance, and the event was last held in Kitchener, Ontario in 2003. Team USA will host Canada's Under-22 Team for two games on August 25 and 26 at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid. The final game will be held on August 28 at the Gutterson Fieldhouse, home ice for the University of Vermont men's and women's ice hockey teams.

In 2003 the U.S. Under-22 Select Team won the best-of-three exhibition series, registering a 2-0-1 record and defeating Canada for the first time in the history of the event.

Included on the 63-player festival roster are nine members of the silver-medal winning 2002 U.S. Olympic Women's Ice Hockey Team. Also, joining the National Team veterans are skaters who have most recently competed at the college and grassroots levels.

Tickets to the August 28 Under-22 Series game pitting the United States against Canada at the University of Vermont's Gutterson Fieldhouse are now available with prices at $8.00 for adults, $5.00 for children 17-and-under, and $4.00 dollars for youth teams.
