At the November 2005 National Women’s Under-18 Championship, Ontario Red, with a roster featuring three future Olympic gold medallists, dominated the event like no team before – or since.
It was medal day at the 2015 National Women’s Under-18 Championship, and the captains of the two winning teams showed why they are looked upon as leaders. A standout performance in a silver-medal effort also earns recognition as the event signs off.
Briana Colangelo and Emily Reid have been teammates for 11 years, and recently committed to four more. But at the National Women’s Under-18 Championship, they are unfamiliar foes. They both may play for Ontario, but one wears red and one wears blue.
Ashton Bell is a multi-sport athlete unlike any other at the 2015 National Women’s Under-18 Championship. For four years the Manitoba forward made a name competing in high school rodeos, succeeding in the ring and on the rink.
Officiating is a family affair for the brother-sister, referee-linesman tandem of Karlin and Kaylah Krieger, who have taken their talents nationally and internationally at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge and National Women’s Under-18 Championship, respectively.
