Cassidy Pirlot had a goal and two assists, Jenica Whitrow and Bailee Bourassa added two points apiece and Jane Kish turned aside 18 shots as the Gold Wings improved to 2-0 at the 2014 Esso Cup.

Jessica Healey scored the game’s only goal with less than five minutes to play in the third and Tracie Kikuchi made 33 saves as the Edmonton Thunder defeated the Fraser Valley Phantom in the Esso Cup’s Battle of the Pacific.
Stephanie Ayres and Claire Merrick each scored twice and four other players found the back of the net as the host Stoney Creek Sabres dominated the Atlantic Region champion Moncton Rockets in the opening day finale.
They’ve come from the east (Moncton), the west (Fraser Valley, Edmonton and Weyburn) and points in between (Sudbury and Stoney Creek, Ont.) with the same goal: win the Esso Cup and the right to be called National Female Midget Champion.
