Tyler Biggs scored twice, including the game-winner in the first minute of the third period, as the United States ended a two-game losing streak in the gold medal game and took the top prize for the first time since the second of back-to-back titles in 2002 with a victory over the two-time defending champions.
Myles Bell scored once shorthanded and set up another while a man short and Ty Rattie added a power play goal and an assist as the western Canadians took home fifth.

J.T. Miller scored with 40 ticks left on the clock to force overtime and Reid Boucher notched the winner 4:04 into the extra frame, sending the U.S. to the gold medal game.
Garrett Meurs and Brett Ritchie finished with two goals apiece as Ontario survived a late comeback attempt by the Russians and kept alive their hopes for a U17 three-peat.
