SLOVAKS BEAT GERMANS IN SHOOTOUT

REGINA — German and Slovakian power-play units kept the goal judges busy in the ninth-place game Tuesday at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Moose Jaw. But it was a shootout that gave Slovakia a 4-3 win.
Milan Kytnar clinched ninth place for his squad with the final shot. Slovakian Martin Stepan and Markus Ruderer scored for Germany in the shootout.
Ruderer and Dennis Reul scored first and second period goals respectively for Germany.
Martin Stepan and Kytnar countered with man-advantage goals for Slovakia.
