LATE COMEBACK NETS QUEBEC WIN

REGINA— Quebec pulled a 3-2 win Saturday out of the fire against host Team West at the World-Under 17 Hockey Challenge in Moose Jaw.

Defenceman Yann Sauve picked up the game-winning goal unassisted with less than three minutes left in the game.

Quebec trailed for most of the game. Mike Proudley gave West the lead late in the first frame, from Ryan Funk and Dwight King.

West took a 2-0 lead when Nathan Green found the net with 15 seconds left in the second period. Jay Fehr and Keith Aulie assisted.

Quebec launched a comeback with a power play 6:16 into the third period. Maxime Macenauer earned his first goal of the week, assisted by defenceman Gabriel Carle and forward Keven Guerette-Charland.

Francis Filion tied the game with his second goal of the tournament, midway in the third period, assisted by Kevin Marshall.

Quebec takes Sunday off before meeting the United States Monday in Regina at 3 p.m. Team West plays the United States Sunday in Regina at 7:30 p.m.
