In what many consider the most exciting game of the tournament, the Patriotes de Chateauguay (Quebec) had a 4-3 come from behind shoot out victory over the Toronto Junior Canadiens (Central) to capture the Bronze medal.

Toronto forward Stefan Della Rovere opened the scoring in the first period banging home a rebound past Patriotes goalie, Guillaume Tartre, which was the only goal in the opening frame.

Michael Shirley increased the Canadiens lead to 2-0 just 2:19 into the second period, but Chateauguay responded seven minutes later when Travis Stacey brought the Patriotes to within one on a power play goal. But Toronto regained its two goal lead with two minutes left in the period on a goal by Stefan Smith.

Down 3-1 heading into the third, Chateauguay’s Regis Labelle put one past Canadiens goalie Alan Reynolds two minutes into the third to close the gap to 3-2. With only 1:30 left in the third, Maxim Guerin scored the game tying goal for the Patriotes to force overtime.

With no scoring in the extra frame, the game went to a shoot out with both teams scoring on their first shooters. But both netminders closed the door after that turning aside the next four shooters to force the shoot out into sudden death.

Alexandre Leduc scored his second goal of the shoot out, and Toronto could not match, as Chateauguay went on to win the Bronze medal in dramatic style.
