ATLANTIC 4 QUEBEC 3 (OVERTIME)

The first game of Day 5 saw the Cole Harbour MaCains take on the Levis Commandeurs in the first morning game of the tournament. Levis carried the play to start the game, out shooting the MaCains 5-0 in the first five minutes. Cole Harbour rebounded and started to get chances of their own, when Chris Chaisson was sent in alone on a pass from Adam Beauchamp but Vanasse robbed him with the glove. Levis had three power play chances in the last half of the period but the MaCains’ Sean Murphy was very solid. With most of Levis’ shots coming on the power play, the led on the shot clock 14-5 at the end of the first.
Cole Harbour started the period much stronger and Michael Withrow had two great chances but put them high and wide. As the play returned to the other end, he ended up taking a slashing penalty. The Commandeurs capitalized with Jean-Philip Chabot digging a puck out of a scramble and lifting it over Murphy for a 1-0 Levis lead at 16:19. Cole Harbour then got some power play chances of their own and managed to get two pucks past Vanasse but not across the goal line. The MaCains continued their pressure and Ryan Gale streaked in a put a slap shot of the post and in to tie the game at 1-1 at 12:26. The teams traded more power play chances in the remainder of the period, with no serious scoring opportunities created.
The third period was played at a fast and frantic pace, and Commandeurs’ Poulin had a great chance in close but Murphy got the pad out to deny him. Cole Harbour then countered with three great chances of their own but Vanasse turned them all away. After a long period of Commandeurs control, Jonathan Labbe blew a sharp angled slap shot over Murphy’s glove to give them a 2-1 lead at 11:48. Cole Harbour didn’t quit and turned the tables with Withrow finishing of a tic-tac-toe play from Gale and Sill to tie the game a t 2-2 at 14:17. The Commandeurs then responded and pressured the MaCains for the rest of the period, resulting in Gauthier making a great play to set up Poulin at 18:04 and a 3-2 lead. Cole Harbour forced a face-off in Levis territory with 16 seconds left and pulled the goaltender. The MaCains got off three quick shots and Gale potted the tying goal with 6.2 seconds left to go, sending the game to overtime.
In overtime, the MaCains kept up the pressure with 3 shots in the first minute and the Cole Harbour captain Sill put home the rebound for their second win of the tournament and handed the Commandeurs their first loss.
