Game Summary

QUEBEC 5 - PACIFIC 3

April 22, 2004
Kenora, ON

In a battle of the unbeatens, many fans thought this game would be a preview of the gold medal game on Sunday. Both teams were sporting perfect 3-0 records, and this would determine who would sit atop the leader board at the end of the day. After a scoreless first period with both teams feeling each other out, Quebec final broke the game wide open with two second period goals, both on the power-play. In another penalty filled affair, Quebec scored five times before Red Deer was able to respond. But Red Deer did not go quietly as they pumped in three third period goals, all on the power-play. Both teams showed a lack of discipline, and allowed each other to run away with three power-play apiece. Quebec was able to hang on to a 5-3 win, after leading 5-0 with only ten minutes remaining. Yannick Riendeau lead the way for Quebec with two goals and an assist. Quebec is now alone in first place with a perfect 4-0 record while Red Deer slips to second with a 3-1 record. Both teams have assured themselves a spot in the semi-finals on Saturday.
