Hosting an Esso Fun Days

Any community in Canada can host an Esso Fun Day. The host can CLICK HERE to apply through their local minor hockey association using this link:

All applications are reviewed by Hockey Canada and the respective member branch and then approved for funding. Following approval, Hockey Canada will send an email with further information (registration link, photo release form, reimbursement form, skills guide).

Responsibilities of a host community

Hockey Canada will send the host an online registration link to register all participants. For insurance purposes, all names must be entered before the players get on the ice. NOTE: The registration link is not for the host to distribute; they must enter every participant to keep track of numbers and make sure players are 'first-time participants.'

The host community must request an approximate number of jerseys a week prior to their event by emailing mduhamel@hockeycanada.ca. Please provide the best shipping address, phone number and approximate number of jerseys needed (There is a maximum of 40 jerseys per event).

If the host community would like to send in pictures, they must have every parent sign the provided video/photo release form. Pictures can be emailed to mduhamel@hockeycanada.ca.

The host community is responsible to send in the reimbursement form, along with receipts by email or mail:

Hockey Canada

  1. Advertise your event.
  2. Collect registration of players and the information needed for the Hockey Canada online registration (register each player as well as coaches).
  3. Ensure players have full equipment.
  4. Contact Hockey Canada for jerseys.
  5. Have fun!
  6. Submit wrap-up reimbursement form and receipts and/or photos with release forms.
  7. Distribute survey.
