Team Canada dropped a 3-1 decision to Team USA at the United Centre in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops Canada's 2001-2002 record to 11-6.

In the first period, Krissy Wendell put Team USA up 1-0 with her first goal of the game at the 3:44 mark, taking advantage of a Canadian miscue by goaltender Kim St-Pierre. Wendell grabbed a loose puck and put it into an empty Canadian net. The period ended with Canada down by a goal.

The Canadians rebounded in the second after Jayna Hefford took a feed from Vicky Sunohara and scored her fourth goal of the season on a breakaway at 3:11. Hefford went from her forehand to her backhand and then put the puck in with one hand, to even things up at 1-1. Team USA regained the lead on Wendell's second goal of the game at 9:53. Canada went to the dressing room trailing 2-1.

Team USA used an early third period power play to take a 3-1 lead thanks to Natalie Darwitz's goal at the 1:36 mark. Darwitz's goal finished the scoring for the game, as Canada fell to Team USA 3-1.

Vicky Sunohara played today in her 100th all-time game with Canada's National Women's team.

St-Pierre took the loss for Canada, stopping 32 of 35 shots. She was also named Canada's player-of-the-game. Krissy Wendell took the honours for the Americans.

The ?Final Faceoff? for Canada will take place on Tuesday, January 8th, 2002 in Vancouver, BC when they will face Team USA for the final time before the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah.
