BUDAPEST, HUNGARY - On Tuesday, Team Canada played its first of two games prior to the 2004 Men's World Championship, beating Hungary by the score of 9-2.
 
Dany Heatley of the Atlanta Thrashers, Rob Niedermayer of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and Stacey Roest of the European Elite League each scored twice to lead Canada. J.P. Dumont of the Buffalo Sabres, Jamie Heward and Jan Alston, both Europe Elite League players and members of Canada's national team, added singles.

Goaltenders J.S. Giguere of the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, Marc Denis of the Columbus Blue Jackets and Roberto Luongo of the Florida Panthers each played a period for Team Canada.  Canada outshot Hungary 46-15.

The game was played in front of a crowd of 10,162, where tickets have been sold out for months.

Team Canada has been training in Budapest since Saturday, and will travel to Prague on Wednesday morning.  Canada will play versus the Czech Republic on Thursday for their second of two pre-competition games.  The 2004 IIHF World Championship begins on Saturday, April 24, with Canada playing its first game on Sunday versus Austria.
