Under-18 Junior World Cup
Round Robin

Canada secured a spot in the semi-final today with a lopsided victory over the Swedes.  Canada killed off 9 of 11 penalties while scoring one shorthanded goal to defeat Sweden 8-2.

Brendan Mikkelson was Canada's player of the game scoring a highlight real, coast to coast goal in the second period.  Canada’s goal scorers were Little (2), McNeil, Parent, Cote, Mikkelson, Bass and Adam Hobson.

Team Canada will face the home town Slovaks tomorrow to finalize the placings heading into the crossover games. Slovakia will need the Swiss to knock off the Swedes if they hope to play in the semi-finals.  In the other pool, it is shaping up as a Canada vs Russia semi-final with the Czech’s favoured to win their pool.

The weather in Slovakia has been very warm and the ice conditions have made play difficult.  Team Canada has played very strong as a team and continue to improve day by day.

Following tomorrows game, the team will enjoy a day off in the Slovak capital of Bratislava before playing the semi-final on Saturday.
