2013-14 National Sledge Team

Canada 5 - Norway 0

WESTLAKE AND DIXON HAVE THREE POINTS EACH, CANADA WINS FOUR NATIONS GOLD

SOCHI, Russia – Greg Westlake (Oakville, Ont.) scored twice and added an assist, and Adam Dixon (Midland, Ont.) had a goal and two helpers to lead Canada’s National Sledge Team to a 4-0 win over Norway in Sunday’s gold medal game at the Four Nations Tournament.

The victory finished an undefeated run through the tournament for the Canadians, who outscored the opposition 19-6 in five games.

Marc Dorion (Bourget, Ont.) and Billy Bridges (Summerside, P.E.I.) also scored for Canada, while Corbin Watson (Kingsville, Ont.) needed to make just four saves to record the shutout.

Watson, who finished with a 0.77 goals-against average in four appearances, was named the tournament’s top goaltender.

The Canadians wasted no time in taking an early lead, with Westlake and Dixon scored 63 seconds apart for a 2-0 advantage just 6:09 in.

Westlake added his second on a power play in the first minute of the second period, before Dorion and Bridges scored in the final five minutes of the third to round out the scoring.

Canada held a massive 26-4 advantage in shots on goal, including 20-1 over the final two periods.

The Four Nations Tournament was a test event for the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games, which will be held at Shayba Arena in Sochi next March.
