BRIDGES HITS CENTURY MARK AS CANADA ROUTS KOREA

SURREY, B.C. – With Canada’s National Sledge Team celebrating a milestone game on Monday, Billy Bridges
(Summerside, P.E.I.) decided to make a little history of his own.

Bridges scored three times – including his 100th career goal – and added four assists as Canada routed Korea 8-2 in its 100th game since becoming a part of Hockey Canada prior to the 2004-05 season. He is the first player to reach the century mark in goals, and, with 102 goals, sits more than 40 ahead of Greg Westlake (Oakville, Ont.), who is second with 61.

Led by the big line of Bridges, Westlake and Bradley Bowden (Orton, Ont.), Canada came out flying at the Surrey Sports and Leisure Complex, going up 2-0 less than two minutes in on goals from Bowden and Marc Dorion (Bourget, Ont.).

Bridges scored his history-making 100th midway through the opening frame, sending Canada to the dressing room up 3-0, and added another just 57 seconds into the second period. After he set up Westlake to make it 5-0, Bridges wrapped up his hat trick a few minutes into the third and added his fourth assist, and seventh point, with time running out.

Dorion finished with a pair of goals, while Westlake had a goal and three assists, Bowden added a goal and three helpers and Adam Dixon (Midland, Ont.) notched three assists.

Benoit St-Amand (St-Hubert, Que.) made his second consecutive start between the pipes for Canada and earned the win, allowing only a pair of third-period goals to the Koreans.

The series wraps up Tuesday at the SSLC, with puck drop set for 1:30 p.m. PT.
