Team Canada Advances to Spengler Cup Final

Jay Harrison scored the winning goal in the second period to put Canada into the finals at the Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland. Canada beat Berlin 5-2 in a game that saw a little bit of everything. Canada led after the first period on goals by Tim Brent and Dominic Pittis.

Halfway through the period an altercation developed between Canada goaltender Justin Pogge and Berlin forward Kelly Fairchild which resulted in both players being ejected from the game. Devan Dubnyk replaced Pogge and only allowed one goal on 16 shots to help his team to the win. Krys Kolanos also scored for Canada and Stacy Roest rounded out the scoring with an empty net goal to cap the victory. Shawn Heins also played a very strong game at both ends of the rink and tallied 2 assists.

Player of the game for Canada was Dominic Pittis.

Canada will await the result of Davos and Khimik to decide who they will meet in the final. Canada will play either Davos or Mora on New Years Eve at 12 noon local Swiss time.
