The Mid-West Islanders who are currently representing Canada at the 2005 Nagano Cup in Japan lost 5-1 in an exhibition game against the Japanese National Team.  The Nagano Cup round robin tournament kicks off on Thursday as Canada has a rematch against Japan in its first game of the event.

Team Canada arrived late on January 25th and were forced to battle through jet leg in the exhibition tilt against Japan.  Rob Douglas put Canada on the score sheet in the second period to make the score 3-1.  Tomohiko Uchiyama tallied twice in the first period while Yosuke Kon and Yasunori Iwata each recorded two assists in the win.
