Quebec pulls through late to go undefeated in Round Robin play
Quebec managed three goals in the final period to down Saskatchewan 3-0 on Friday night.  Myriam Croussette got things started with a power play goal while Jackie Duncan scored but 20 seconds later  giving Quebec the 2-0 lead.  Late in the third, Emmanuelle Blais made in 3-0.  Kathy Desjardins made 23 saves for the shutout while Kayley Heyman, Saskatchewan’s player of the game stopped 33 of 36 shots in a losing cause.   Emmanuelle Blais was named Quebec’s player of the game.  With the win, Quebec finished atop of Pool A with a 2-0-1 record.

Ontario Red finishes with a perfect 3-0-0 record
Ontario Red continued their dominance Friday evening as they defeated BC 7-1.  After a scoreless first period, Ontario Red exploded for seven goals in the final two periods.  Alison Dominenco scored twice while Morgan Marziali, Haley Irwin also scored in the second period.  Melissa Andersson was BC’s lone goal scorer.  Clancy Todd, Mallory Deluce and Jennifer MacLean finished of the scoring for Ontario.  After going 3-0-0 in round robin play Ontario Red finished first in pool B outscoring their opponents 21-2.

Manitoba finds their first win
After two games in which they were hard pressed to find the back of the net, Manitoba finally found their scoring touch defeating Team Atlantic 7-4.  Tammy Brade, Manitoba’s player of the game led the way with three goals and one assist.  Laura Fridfinnson added two goals while Melissa Jacques and Katherine O’Rourke also scored for Manitoba.  Atlantic was led by their captain Jenny Brine scored three goals and added an assist en route to being named Atlantic’s player of the game.  Marie-Helene Plourde also scored for Atlantic.  

Alberta pulls it out in overtime
Alberta recorded their first win of the tournament with a hard fought 3-2 victory over Team Ontario Blue.  Samantha Hunt, Alberta’s top scorer and once again player of the game, scored all three goals fro Alberta, including the overtime winner.  Erin Normore and Dominique Thibault were Ontario Blue’s lone goal scorers.  Team Alberta’s goaltender, Kristen Young, was spectacular in net stopping 34 of 36 shots.  With the win, Alberta managed to take second place away from Ontario Blue in Pool A.
