Team Ontario, led by Jenna Hefford, continued their winning ways in their game this morning.  Hefford started the scoring off early in the first on a beauty of a goal, her third of the tournament, from Vicki Sonohara and Coley Dosser.  She made it 2-0 about three minutes later on a pass made to her from Coley Dosser inside their own end  A second assist went to Gillian Ferreri.  Hefford took the pass, carried it over the red line, outwaited while B.C.’s tender, Ashley Mayr went down and then put the puck up and over the stick side.  While Meredith Ostrander was serving a minor for cross checking, her team mates pressed for short-handed goals.  It seemed that they had scored once, but the whistle had been blown and then another time Dosser went in alone on the B.C. tender, but had her shot stopped.  When Ostrander exited the box, she picked up an errant puck and had her own chances for a one on none, but put the shot wide.  Brooke Bradburn of Team Ontario made it 3-0 just seven seconds into the power play at the 15:37 mark with assists to Zamora and Weiland.  Team B.C. finally got on the score board at 16:21 on a Julia Staszewski marker with the lone assist to Angela Van Eerd.  Hefford scored the hat trick at 17:12 to restore the three-goal cushion from Coley Dosser.

In the second period, Hefford started the scoring off again, and quickly.  Just 37 seconds in and she bumped up her goal total to 6 while Alison Goodman picked up an assist.  Coley Dossey picked up her third goal of the tournament while the team was on the power play at the 2:43 mark.  She received a pass from Vicki Sonohara who made a dead stop in front of the goalie, while in possession of the puck, and fed an open Dossey who had no problem finding the back of the net with her shot.  The second assist went to Jayna Hefford.  Meredith Ostrander scored goal number seven from Stephanie Kay and Elizabeth Macri.  Team Ontario’s eighth goal was a power play marker at the 11:50 mark as Kristy Zamora scored her 6th of the tournament.  An assist went to Christina Sorbara.  Team Ontario scored twice in the third period, the first of these coming when the B.C. tender was down and the players scrambled for the loose puck.  Jayna Hefford banged it in for her 4th of the game with an assist to Coley Dosser.  Final goal, with 42 seconds left in the game, was another power play goal.  It was scored by Elizabeth Macri from Kristy Zamora.

Starting tenders were Ashley Mayr for Team B.C. and Nicolette Franck for Team Ontario.  Franck went the distance and kicked out 23 shots.  Mayr lasted one period and made 10 saves.  Playing 40 minutes for B.C. was Jennifer Price who made 17 saves.

Players of the game were Kobi Kawamoto for B.C. and for Ontario, the choice was Jayna Hefford.
