The Ontario Women’s Hockey Association’s is honoured to be represented by the Brampton Thunder who defeated the Beatrice Aeros in an exciting 2-1 Provincial Championship final.

The Brampton Thunder was founded in 1998 in the City of Brampton, Ontario. Their successes include a provincial bronze medal in their first year, followed by three silver medals and now, this year’s achievement is GOLD!

Last season Brampton won a bronze medal at the 2002 Esso Women’s National Hockey Championship, which they attended as the host team. This year’s team includes Olympians Lori Dupuis, Jayna Hefford and Vicky Sunohara.

The Brampton Thunder’s home arena is the 6,000 Seat Stadium in Brampton, where fans regularly enjoy the finest in women’s hockey. Coached by Steve Bennett, the Brampton Thunder is a strong team, with tremendous talent and skills.

We congratulate all participants in this prestigious championship on their contributions to female hockey at the provincial and national levels and we would like to sincerely thank ESSO, the Saskatchewan Hockey Association, the 2003 host committee and the many volunteers, sponsors and supporters who make this event possible.
