2004 National U18 Club Championship

WEST 6 - PACIFIC 2

Semi-Final
April 24, 2004
Kenora, ON

In a rematch from an excellent round robin game that saw Red Deer defeat Brandon 6-5 in overtime, the winner would get a chance to play Quebec for the National Championship. Brandon had a good start by scoring two first period goals, taking a 2-0 lead into the second. But Red Deer came out of the gate flying in the middle frame and scored a power-play goal just 38 seconds into the period. Brandon responded with a power-play goal of their own at 14:13 on a goal by Matt Ostash to give the Wheaties a 3-1 lead going into the final period. Red Deer threw everything they had at the Wheaties goalie Tyler Plante, but were only able to convert once on a goal by Landon Novotney, who was also named as the Player-of-the-Game for Red Deer. Brandon scored three third period goals, however two were empty net goals. Matt Ostash had two goals on the night and was named Player-of-the-Game for Brandon. Brandon goes on to face Quebec in the Gold medal final on Sunday, while Red Deer faces Kenora in the Bronze medal game.
