Born in Brandon Manitoba, Darren Millard says his lifelong dream is to play in the NHL (he's still waiting for the phone to ring. If anyone has any ideas on how to get the attention of NHL General Managers, they can e-mail him). For now, he settles for Wednesday skates with Nick Kypreos and Darren Dreger.

Millard’s career started in radio, with stops in Melfort, Sask., Portage la Prairie, Man., Yorkton, Sask. and Brandon, Man. along the way. He then moved on to TV with stays at Global Winnipeg and at ITV Edmonton on Sports Night (he points out that this is not the cancelled sitcom Sports Night, but the program where they actually show the highlights). He says he likes to watch the sitcom, though (it makes him wonder if he is really that funny off the air).

Millard says he basically eats, drinks and plays sports -- especially golf. He says he “may just be the best sand player to ever carry a 23 handicap.” His ultimate golf dream is to caddy in a professional tournament, but he doesn’t want to set his goals too high.

Millard did, in fact, graduate from high school. He says most people don't believe him and says “I think it has something to do with my spelling skills.” After all, he is willing to go on record saying that spell check may be the best invention ever, above rockets to the moon and Velcro.

Millard was born on Aug. 16, 1970 and scored his first media job in 1990 at CJVR Radio in Melfort, Sask. His career highlights include attending Wayne Gretzky’s retirement weekend in New York City, N.Y. and is hobbies include hockey, curling, golf and reading biographies
